英文裡常出現的拉丁語，該怎麼使用才專業？

1.ad hoc：

意思就是for this，為了某一特定目的而訂定的（原來並不存在，常引申為臨時的、即興的）。

Problems were solved on an ad hoc basis. 做了一些變通問題便解決了。

Points of policy are decided ad hoc. 政策的條款是臨時決定的。

2.de facto：

實際上已經是，但名義上還不是的。

The prime minister is de facto president of the country.這位總理實際上就是這個國家的總統。

3.per annum：

就是每年的意思。 美國人工作的offer letter，載明你的年薪是多少，是用$xxx per annum, 不說yearly。

4.per se：

內在的，本質上的。英語自己有詞可以表達這個意思，比如by itself, intrinsically. 例句：The drug is not harmful per se, but is dangerous when taken with alcohol.該藥本身並無害處，但與酒類同時服用則有危險。

5.quid pro quo：

相對的補償。經典用法可以從電影《沉默的羔羊》一段台詞看出，安東尼霍普金斯演的殺人狂對探員茱蒂佛斯特說：If I help you, Clarice, it will be "turns" with us too. Quid pro quo. I tell you things, you tell me things. Not about this case, though. About yourself. Quid pro quo. Yes or no?　你告訴我妳的事，我告訴妳我的，誰也不吃虧。

例句: Please accept the use of our office as a quid pro quo for lending us your car. 請儘管使用我們的辦公空間，以酬謝借給我們汽車之事。

6.status quo：

目前狀態，維持現狀也就用這個詞。

例句：You can choose hope over fear, unity over division, the promise of change over the power of the status quo. 你們可以選擇希望而非恐懼、選擇團結而非分裂、選擇變革的希望而非維持現狀。
