讓英文活起來：簡單的字聰明用

1. On top of that

老外很喜歡用這個字，這個片語一定要譯成中文，大約「除此之外」，或是「更重要的是」。例如＂是On top of that The unemployment rate is rising, and on top of that, factory orders are also down. （失業率增加了，除此之外，工廠的訂單也減少了。）

2. Stay on top of

Stay on top of something指一直努力表現到最好，想把英文講好，也可以說成是Stay on top of English at work。

I've been working very hard to stay on top of my work　（我一直很努力工作將我的工作做到最好.）

3. On the ball

On the ball來自於運動場。當你on the ball，就得警覺並處於掌控制地位。"Make sure you are on the ball with those reports." 相反的是 drop the ball，意思是你沒有完成任務並讓和你一起工作的人失望了。

4. Get the ball rolling

Get the ball rolling意思是開始做一件事，而且讓它可以很順暢地運作。"Let's get the ball rolling on this project."　如果這件事情已經進行到一半，你可以用keep the ball rolling.表示維持運作順暢。

5. Multi-tasking

有multi-tasking能力的人或在同一時間完成多項任務。 "This week we need you to write a report, make a presentation, and review last year's earnings. I hope you can multi-task!" 一個人當三個人用，這大概是老闆最喜歡用的人才儘管

6. Downtime

沒有多少工作要做、或者你的工作只是不像以前那樣忙，這樣的時段就稱作downtime。"If you have some downtime this week, please brainstorm some ideas for our next team outing."
